The client wanted a single storey kitchen extension to their Edwardian house.
The solution was to design a simple rectangular plan with an asphalt flat roof with a roof lantern as a striking feature to the room. The existing decorative brickwork with string courses was carefully replicated, with a brick parapet to enhance the proportions. French doors made from Accoya open out onto the rear terrace and an existing sash window was reinstated in the front elevation. The kitchen units were bespoke, made by Peter Rogan Joinery, and period cast iron radiators were used for heating.
