The house is of Sussex vernacular, occupying a site of about one acre, with strict tree preservation orders on the site.
The brief was to provide a rear extension with new kitchen / breakfast room, a further lounge / home cinema area, and with a new bedroom and ensuite to the first floor above. A new pool house and swimming pool complimented the scheme and a basement was added in to house a games area. The extension was carefully modelled to respect the form of the existing vernacular, and circulation was linked up to the existing first floor via the ensuite to the master bedroom. Other features included a brick built oil store which also houses play equipment, new boundary walls with integrated seating around the pool, and extensive landcaping of the site by a landscape consultant.
The scheme was featured in the RIBA Architecture Review South East 2006.
