NEW TICKET OFFICE FOR MICHELHAM PRIORY

Sussex Past required a new ticket office as the previous one was too small, unheated and generally lacking in IT facilities.
Minimum intervention was required in order to avoid fixing into the Grade I listed fabric, which was a condition of the Listed Building application. A timber solution was adopted, being prefabricated off site with the structure kept independent of the existing fabric and incorporating a suspended floor for ease of construction. Materials were carefully chosen and the new kiosk clad in elm T+G boarding.
The office was fitted out with the latest IT equipment, including fibre optic cables, in order that Sussex Past should meet the demands of the 21st century.
