Project: New West Doors for All Saints Church
Client: PCC All Saints Church, Findon Valley, Worthing
Contract Sum / Type : £4,537.31 + VAT / JCT Minor Works 2016
Contractor : Seth Evans Joinery / Engraved glass by Brookland Glass
The brief was to design new west doors in memory of a recently deceased member of the congregation who wanted to make the church lighter, and more welcoming. Fully glazed hardwood doors in Iroko were chosen, to be engraved with a crucifix symbol and sunburst effect, based on one of the church's kneeler designs. The door design needed both Faculty and Planning permissions, and the work was undertaken by a local joinery company who provided a very comprehensive service.
The engraved symbol was carried out by a local glazier and doors were fitted with a time lock to suit the church's opening hours.
The new doors have been well received by the congregation who have appreciated the improved natural lighting in the entrance lobby, as well as a more welcoming ambience for the church.
