Project description: Extension to existing pool kiosk
Contract Sum: approx £60,000.00
The Pells Pool Committee and Lewes Town Council asked local architects to submit ideas for extending and refurbishing the existing kiosk to accommodate better and new pool facilities. These included a new ticket office, first aid room, rest room, toilets, and a new cafe serving both the pool and recreation area with kitchen facilities. The design process involved trying to retain as much as the original fabric as possible due to a limited budget. For instance, a butterfly roof was adopted as the best solution for combining the existing roof with the new one. Four schemes were presented to the Committee, and option four was eventually considered the best value for money. The scheme was postponed by the Town Council due to the upcoming re-development of North Street.
