This project was carried out by Chilton Waters and Stutchbury prior to merging with Ichthus Architects to form Waterside Architects in 2008.
A two storey new build was planned in a wooded part of Crowborough in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The residential care centre comprises of 35 ensuite bed-sits which are displaced in seven groups, each with assisted bathrooms and social areas fitted with mini kitchens. Four groups are planned around an internal courtyard with the remainder in a wing, each with separate access. Communal facilities include a lounge, dining room, activity rooms and hairdressing, with staff and ancillary accommodation in support. The residential care centre is of traditional construction, and the external fabric reflects the architectural styles and characteristics of other buildings on the campus.
